Goo Pipes guide
How to play Goo Pipes
Goo Pipes is a pipe puzzle with hungry monsters. Tap a pipe to turn it and lead the goo from its barrel to every monster of the same colour. No pipe may leak and no colours may mix. There is no timer and no luck: the fewer turns you need, the more stars you keep.
Goo Pipes rules
The rules in one minute
Every level is a small board full of pipes. A barrel pumps goo into them, and somewhere a monster is waiting for it with its mouth wide open.
- Tap a pipe to turn it. Each tap turns it a quarter clockwise. Straight pipes, bends and T-pieces all turn the same way.
- The goo flows by itself. From the barrel it runs on, cell by cell, through every pipe whose ends meet.
- Feed every monster. Once each monster has goo of its own colour and nothing leaks, the level is solved.
Every level in Beasties is checked with the game’s rules and comes with its shortest solution. That number of turns is your target for three stars.
Leaks
Close every open end
Wherever the goo reaches a pipe end that doesn’t meet another pipe, it drips out. The edge of the board, a rock or an empty spot: a leak is a leak.
- Open ends drip. The goo runs into a pipe end that leads nowhere, so it pours out right there.
- One happy monster is not enough. The first monster has its goo, but the other branch of the T-piece still drips.
- No drips, everyone fed: solved. Turn the last pipes until the goo reaches the second monster and no end is left open.
Tip: pipes the goo never reaches don’t matter. Leave them alone, because every tap on them costs a turn.
How to play
Goo Pipes in Beasties, step by step
The board in the middle, your monster peeking over the top edge and a single Restart button below.
- Tap a pipe. It turns a quarter clockwise. Every turn counts as a move.
- Bolted pipes stay put. Screws in the corners mean this pipe can’t be turned. It only wobbles, and the tap costs nothing.
- Watch the line under the stars. It shows your moves so far and in how many moves the next star falls.
- Restart is free. The same level from the start, with all three stars back. Then the goo reaches the monster.
The first time you open Goo Pipes, Gnatz explains it in two short tips on Chill level 1. There is no undo: if a turn went wrong, keep turning that pipe until it fits, or start over.
Stars
Three stars for the shortest way
Every level knows its shortest solution. Solve it in that many turns and you keep all three stars. After that, a star falls every few turns.
- Up to the target: three stars. This level can be solved in 4 turns. That is the target for all three stars.
- Then a star falls. One turn more costs the first star. After that, one falls every 6 turns.
- Third star gone: level lost. Here that happens at turn 17. You start the same board again.
- Find the short way, keep them. Solved in 4 turns: all three stars fly into your counter.
How fast the stars fall depends on the difficulty: Chill gives you plenty of spare turns, Devilish hardly any. The stars you keep buy monster parts and level packs.
Bolted pipes
Pipes you can’t turn
Some pipes have a screw in each corner. They are bolted to the board: tap one and it only wobbles.
- Spot the screws. This pipe is bolted. Tapping it does nothing and costs no move.
- Turn the others around it. The loose pipes have to fit the bolted one, not the other way round.
- The goo runs right through. Once everything lines up, the goo flows through the bolted pipe to the monster.
Tip: start with the bolted pipes. Their ends can’t change, so they show you where the pipes next to them have to point. Devilish has none.
T-pieces
One barrel, two monsters
From Normal on, one barrel has to feed two monsters. A T-piece splits the goo: it comes in through one end and flows out of the other two.
- Two mouths to feed. One barrel, two monsters of the same colour. A single path can’t reach both.
- Split it with a T-piece. Turn the T so the goo comes in on one side and leaves through the other two.
- Both branches have to arrive. Each branch leads to one monster. If one of them ends in an open end, it leaks.
Two colours
Bridges, and colours that must not mix
From Tricky on there are two barrels with two colours, and each monster only wants its own. When two colours meet in a pipe, the goo turns brown, and no monster eats that.
- A bridge is two pipes in one. One runs up and down, the other left and right. The colours cross without touching.
- Colours meet: brown goo. One wrong turn joins the two colours, and the goo turns brown. Keep turning until the pipe is back.
- Every colour to its monster. Each colour reaches its own monster and they cross on the bridge. Then the level is solved.
Devilish puts it all together: three monsters, two colours, T-pieces and bridges, and not a single bolted pipe to hold on to.
Difficulty levels
Four difficulties to choose from
The boards below are level 1 of each difficulty, solved. Each step brings a bigger board, more monsters and more turns.

Chill
5×5 · 4–8 turns
One goo, one monster. Perfect to warm up.

Normal
6×6 · 7–14 turns
One goo for two monsters. Split it with a T-piece!

Tricky
6×7 · 9–18 turns
Two colours that must never mix. Use the bridges!

Devilish
7×8 · 13–26 turns
Three monsters, two colours, no bolted pipes.
Chill, Normal and Tricky have 150 free levels each. You unlock the rest for free with the stars you win, or all at once with Pro. Every player gets the same boards in the same order, so the solutions on this site match your app.
Tips
Plan the way, then turn
Every extra turn brings you closer to losing a star. A moment of looking saves a lot of spinning.
- Follow the goo. Trace the way from each barrel to its monsters before you tap anything.
- Count the turns. Here it is 12 turns on 5 pipes. Three taps turn a pipe a quarter to the left.
- Then tap, and stop. Every turn on the plan, not one extra: three stars.
More tips: a straight pipe has only two positions, so it never needs more than one tap. Bends and T-pieces have four, and three taps turn them a quarter to the left. Work from the barrel and from the monsters at the same time and meet in the middle.

Every level has its own solution page, free and Pro. Try the board yourself right there, then watch the shortest solution turn by turn, as the goo flows.

FAQ
Goo Pipes questions, short answers
What are the rules of Goo Pipes?
Tap pipes to turn them a quarter clockwise. Goo flows from each barrel through every pipe whose ends meet. The level is solved when every monster has goo of its own colour, no open end leaks and no colours mix.
Why is my level not solved although the monster has its goo?
Somewhere goo still drips out of an open end, another monster is still hungry, or two colours have mixed. Look for drips: often a T-piece or a bend near the end points the wrong way.
What happens when two colours meet?
They mix into brown goo, and no monster eats brown. Keep the colours apart and let them cross on a bridge, where one pipe runs over the other without touching it.
What do the screws on a pipe mean?
The pipe is bolted and can’t be turned. Tapping it only makes it wobble and costs no move. Bolted pipes appear in Chill, Normal and Tricky, never in Devilish.
How do the stars work?
Every level has a target: the number of turns of its shortest solution. Solve it within the target for three stars. After that, a star falls every few turns, and when the third one is gone the level is lost.
Is there an undo?
No. Every turn counts. If a pipe went too far, tap on until it is back, or use Restart: it is free and gives you all three stars back.
Can I look up the rules during a round?
Yes. Tap the gear at the top left of the round: Settings open, and their Game guide row takes you straight to the rules of this game and how the stars work.
Is there a timer?
No. The goo waits for you. Take as long as you like, offline and without ads.
